Eden pulled off her Marc Jacob's jacket in one swift motion and flung it onto the back of a chair. She was in such a rush she didn't notice right away that someone had been in her apartment while she was away.
What the hell was going on? None of her stuff was moved at all, not even an inch as far as she could tell, but their emotions left a mark in the energy. Doubting herself she began to check to make sure nothing was missing, going through every drawer and closet.
The elders were going to be a bigger issue than she had first imagined. Whatever they were doing in her apartment had nothing to do with finding something. It was as if they were observing and studying her environment. She had to speak to Drystan as soon as she could.

Drystan heard Eden calling for him. He appeared in her kitchen.
"You rang?" he joked. He looked at her and knew she was unsettled. A rush over seriousness and concern rushed over him. "What's the matter." It was a statement rather than a question. He demanded she tell him instead of inquired.
Drystan took a seat at the wooden table. He gestured that she too should have a seat. You know I can't read your mind. Everyone but you. Silly girl blocking me out.
He smiled a little.

Eden spun around to find Drystan standing in her kitchen. "Good, I was just thinking about speaking with you" she said to Drystan with a shakiness in her voice.
She knew that she would have to tell him everything because he wasn't able to fish around and find his own answers. Eden was always very aware of his ability and had a permanent wall blocking her thoughts.
"Someone was here, I don't know who...it's a scent that I don't recognize. It's not human, I know that for sure" "Nothing was taken, but they wanted to learn something."
Eden looked up from her fidgeting hands to Drystan's face.
She hated the idea that the elders were back monitoring their kind, it brought her back to memories she didn't want to have.

"I was just at my place. Someone was there too." Drystan Pounded his fist on the cold table. "What the FUCK!? Why are they doing this!? It's been too long since the last time...why now? Why again?"
His heart started pounding. He rose from the table and started to pace. "What could the elders possibly want from us? I thought they dismembered a century ago...this is them though, it has to be...how else would they know where to find us? Who else would care to find us?" He sighed. "I guess it's back to the old times. Ready to be a fugitive again?"
Drystan was comfortable enough with Eden and her home to get himself a glass of water. They had many memories together. Some he wished not to remember.
Much blood shed had stained his psyche. A war between clans had torn his life apart so long ago. Since then he had established a new life. Something good. Something balanced. He didn't want to go back to what it was before. He was a vampire. Not a slayer.
He closed his eyes. "Where are your sais? I'll be needing them again."

"What ever it is we'll figure it out and take care of it." Eden told Drystan with reassurance, but he knew she wasn't sure of herself.
Should I tell him the whole truth?
She hadn't been completely truthful with Drystan. There was one part of the story she was keeping from him, not because she wanted to, but because she didn't want to even consider the possibility.
It took awhile for the scent to trigger any sort of recognition or memory, but something insde her told her this scent was not as foreign as she thought. Although she had an idea of what this scent was, there was also another mixed with it. The second was someone sent by the elders.
What about the other scent? She didn't want to think about the possibility of it being true.
What if it was him? Would she be able to fight the temptation?

Drystan squinted at Eden. His anxiousness was somewhat calmed by his curiousity. It was more of a blend of the two that came through in his tone of voice. "I don't have to be able to read your mind to know you're not telling me something."
He gave her that look. "What aren't you telling me?" He took a deep breath. "I am directly involved with thing...so if you know something..." He looked into her eyes. "Please."
Drystan took a large gulp of his water. He looked up from the glass that was in front of his face. He stopped drinking and lightly set the glass down. "What do you know about this girl? Does it have to do with her?" He looked up at her again.

Eden met Drystan's eyes across the table. He was waiting for her answer, but he wouldn't get what he was looking for. This was just another secret, no different from the rest.
"I don't know anything that you don't, you're just being paranoid. As far as I know this girl is just another meal to them," she said calmly to Drystan.
She knew he didn't believe her, but he was going to have to. Even though she knew he couldn't read her thoughts, she put extra walls to guard her thoughts. Getting up from the table, she grabbed his water glass and brought it to the sink. She glanced over at the clock...4:30 AM.
Fuck it was late.
She had some thinking to do, but needed to sleep before trying to figure anything out.
"Well I'm just wiped out after this night, what about you?" she said to Drystan hoping he wouldn't push the subject any further and let her get some rest.
